Have you ever feel like you just want to escape the world for a day or two? Well, you can take a week or a month off but most of us don’t have that kind of luxury thanks to the 1001 commitments that we have, no?
So last week, I opted for a night’s stay in my city, Kuala Lumpur, which is something that I have never done. And what’s totally different too this time is that I decided to check-in a homestay instead of a hotel.
My choice was Garden Studio at The Scott Garden in Old Klang Road. They currently have 9 studio units there and I was told by one of the owners that they’re planning to add more.
I asked my sister to join me and since it was just the both of us, we opted for the standard studio unit. The thing that we love about the 75sqm unit is its modern contemporary design. It’s very simple, really and I love the different strokes of wall paintings.
And then there’s the comfy grey couch that we could sit/lay on and chat the night away.
There’s also TV with Unifi channels but we ended up talking, reading and checking out the swimming pool. We didn’t have to worry about work or anything else especially our Russian language homework (gulp!)
The major thing that I love about the unit is the welcoming aura that I felt when I first stepped in. Call me superstitious but feeling good about a new place is important for me!
I could go on and on about the place but it will be a draggy piece. So overall, it was a really good 2 days 1 night stay. Early in the morning my sister and I woke up to enjoy the view of Old Klang Road through a big window in the studio unit.
It was our first time looking at the view and it was amazing because we are so used to the KL City Centre view (talk about feeling like a foreigner in your own country, lol). There was a river flowing and we wonder what river is that (our guess is it’s the Klang river!)
Garden Studio live up to my expectation of a short ‘me’ time – the unit is simple (tick), clean (tick), comfy bed (tick), safe (tick) and the service is great (double tick) plus there’s also a dry kitchen (equipped with utensils, oven and refrigerator) and a washing machine for those who intend to stay longer (triple tick).
I also think the studio unit is also a great place for a small group (2 to 6 persons) to get together and maybe perhaps throw a slumber party or bachelorette’s party.
It’s also perfect for a group of friends to crash after a late night out in town or at Scott Garden itself (there’s quite a number of bars and nightclubs around the area).
To be honest, I felt a bit reluctant to leave the studio unit since I really enjoyed my stay but there goes reality hitting on the door (and I need to finish up the Russian homework, pronto!)
Hmmm… Since its only the mid of the year, I’ll be back for another round of a quiet night!
